HISTORY I
The Annaberg resort heart of the palatine wine-country 1804 - 2004 tranquility among woods and wines Welcome to the historic Annaberg vineyard which celebrated its 200 year history in 2004. In 1804, the era of the Counts of Leiningen drew to a close, and a small tiled cottage fell under French authority. On 21 December 1804, the cottage was auctioned, being acquired by Georg Kochenburger of Kallstadt, and Louis Wolf from Wachenheim. At the same auction they bought a large vineyard adjacent to the property. The property, which lies on the edge of the Rhine Valley with wonderful views as far as Heidelberg, was then acquired by Johann Adam Fitz. He built a country house, increased the estate's size, and named it after his beloved wife Anna. Fitz died in 1855, passing ownership to Anna; their son Louis took over the estate and a newly developed tile kiln in 1870. read more |
